Speakers from The Codrington Estate Tenants and Farmers Union

There has been recent controversy in the press in Barbados about the Codrington Trust’s management of the Codrington Estate. There are also questions about the attitude of the Codrington Trust and the United Society Partners in the Gospel (USPG) to Reparations. From 1711-1835, the Society for the Propagation of the Gospel (SPG), forerunner of the USPG, exploited the labour of enslaved persons on the Codrington Estates in Barbados thereby committing crimes against humanity.
Come and hear the views of the tenants and farmers on the estate.
The meeting will start with a brief introduction to the historical connection between Codrington and African enslavement.
