For too long violence against women and girls is seen as a woman’s issue. Men need take responsibility for ending their violence and the violence of other men. Despite forty years and £40billion spent by the UN, Intimate Partner Violence continues to increase. Violence against women and girls is political and needs political action to end it. Black women experience higher levels of violence worldwide. The legacy of slavery and colonialism has a negative impact on black men’s violent behaviour. Taking responsibility is the first step in ending the violence.
