July CLS Meeting – the Environment

Ozzi Warwick, Chief Education and Research Officer of the Oilfield Workers Trade Union of Trinidad and Tobago (OWTU) will speak about the work of Trade Unions for Energy Democracy (TUED) , a growing global network of unions and close allies working to advance democratic control and social ownership of energy, in ways that promote solutions to the climate crisis, address energy poverty, resist the degradation of both land and people, and respond to the attacks on workers’ rights and protections.

Bibi Elberse climate justice organiser with Tipping Point UK and Stop EACOP, a campaign that mobilises a global network to stop the biggest crude oil pipeline in the world in East Africa. She will report on her recent trip to Africa and tell us about the grassroots climate activism that is happening on the ground there despite the brutal repression.
